Online therapy and hypnotherapy
As an online therapist I work with clients from all over the UK via Zoom.
Every therapy service I offer is available online, making quality holistic therapy accessible from wherever you are.
Who is online therapy and hypnotherapy a good fit for?
Online therapy is a first choice for many of my clients, prefering the comfort and ease of the sessions being ran from their home.
I have a complete mix of client preference, some like to join me in my therapy centre in Birkenhead and some are completely remote.
This offers flexibility for those who have a quiet space at home and allows me to work with people who live further away.
As a long time sufferer of social anxiety I had always assumed it would take years of therapy to make it disappear. After only a few weeks of Debbie's sessions I can honestly say my anxiety has significantly reduced and almost gone. She is very affable, easy to work with and professional.

Why online therapy works

A lot of people come to online therapy slightly sceptical, especially when we're using theraputic strategies like hypnotherapy and BWRT.
They assume that for therapies where complete relaxation is needed, sitting in a room with a therapist must be better — that something important might get lost through a screen.
The research doesn't support that, and in my experience neither does the reality of working with clients remotely.
Here's why it works, and in many cases why it works particularly well.
The evidence is clear
Multiple large-scale studies and systematic reviews have found that online therapy produces outcomes equivalent to face-to-face therapy for a wide range of presentations — including anxiety, depression, trauma, phobias and OCD.
The American Psychological Association, NHS research bodies and independent academic reviews have all reached the same conclusion:
The medium doesn't determine the outcome. The quality of the therapeutic relationship and the approach of the therapist do.
Being in your own environment is an advantage
There's something to be said for having therapy in a dedicated space — but there's also something useful about being on your own territory.
Many clients find that being at home, in a space they feel safe in, makes it easier to open up. There's no unfamiliar chair, no strange smell, no journey to manage.
You're already somewhere comfortable before the session even begins. For anxiety in particular, removing unnecessary stressors from the therapeutic experience can make a positive difference.
It fits around your life
Evening and Saturday sessions are available online, just as they are in person. But online therapy also opens up the possibility of fitting a session in a way that an in-person appointment can't.
For people with demanding jobs, young children or busy households, that flexibility means you take the steps to achieving the personal goals you have, rather than waiting for a calmer time to start.
How does online hypnotherapy work?
This surprises people most of all.
The idea of being hypnotised through a screen feels counterintuitive — but in practice, hypnotherapy works just as effectively online as it does in a therapy room.
The deep relaxation that hypnotherapy requires doesn't depend on physical location. Being in your own home, in a comfortable chair or lying on your sofa, can actually make it easier to reach that relaxed state than sitting in an unfamiliar room.
I've worked with clients online for hypnotherapy, BWRT, regression and specialist programmes including weight loss, stopping smoking and phobia work — and the results are consistent with what I see in person.
What online hypnotherapy is particularly useful for unpicking:
Hypnotherapy gets to the subconscious level — the part of the mind that runs automatic responses, emotional patterns and deeply held beliefs without asking your conscious mind for permission first.
That's why it's particularly powerful for issues that feel irrational, that resist willpower, or that you've understood intellectually for years without being able to shift.
Anxiety and worry patterns:
Anxiety often lives below conscious thought — it's an automatic response that fires before you've had a chance to reason with it.
Online hypnotherapy works directly with those automatic responses, reducing their intensity and replacing them with calmer default reactions.
It's particularly useful for generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety and the kind of low-level constant worry that makes it hard to switch off.
Habits, addictions and unwanted behaviours:
Habits are subconscious by definition — that's what makes them habits. Whether it's smoking, vaping, overeating, nail biting, scrolling, alcohol or anything else, the behaviour is driven by a pattern the subconscious has practised until it became automatic.
Hypnotherapy interrupts that pattern at the source, and suggestion work builds new automatic responses in its place. This is why hypnotherapy for stopping smoking and losing weight produces results that willpower-based approaches often don't — it works with the subconscious rather than against it.
